About us
"It all started with four young people and a dream for the future. Poverty had touched their hearts. Poverty had a face. Slowly but surely their dream of the future got more tangible. The For a Change Foundation was established. That is For a Change at his core."
Our mission
For a Change helps defeating poverty in Malawi step by step. We want to do this in dependence on God and in collaboration with the CCAP Church, the local school, the community, and other aid organizations. Through this cooperation, we can discover the need and the possibilities of people living in poverty. We believe that every person has received talents from God to use them for the glory of God and for the benefit of the other and himself.
These talents are developed through education, guidance and, where necessary, financial assistance. We use these resources to work on a sustainable solution with the result: responsible people who develop themselves and their community. In this way, together with our sponsors in the Netherlands, we can beat poverty step by step.
"In a world full of injustice, For a Change strives for lasting change. From the Biblical mission, we can serve together in vulnerability and fight for justice."
Our way of work
We believe in the power of collaboration. By allowing the community, the local church and the school to work hand in hand, we create support to achieve the intended goals. We can develop forces, possibilities and talents together. People who live in material poverty have often lost self-esteem. They think they can't contribute to their community. We believe that every person has received talents from God to use them for the glory of God and for the benefit of others and themselves.
These talents are developed by building a relationship and receiving education, training, guidance and, where necessary, financial assistance. We use these resources to work on a sustainable solution with the result: responsible people who develop themselves and their community.
Our policy plans
The main points from our policy plan include activities focused on education and supervision. To this end, research is first carried out into a suitable location where cooperation with the community, local church and school is possible. This research is mainly focused on the needs and possibilities of the population.
During the first phase, we focus on one community, the CCAP church and the local school. The goal is to expand, when this proves to be successful. In case of emergency situations such as the major floods in January 2015, emergency aid will be given in order to combat the emergency whereever necessary and possible.
Our reward
The board members and other volunteers do their work based on their personal conviction and receive no compensation for this. For costs incurred, such as travel costs to Malawi, there is a compensation policy that matches the objectives of the foundation.
