Impressive

Impressive, that's Malawi in every sense. During 2 visits earlier to the country, the culture and nature left an unforgettable impression. It really is a difference. Everything is different from what you are used to in the Netherlands; the grass, the trees, the moon, the climate, the people and the traffic. The biggest difference is the prosperity and the issues we people worry about in our daily lives.
In the Netherlands, we plan far ahead. This is possible because we do not have to make any special effort for daily necessities. Food and drink, a house and clean clothes are something we take for granted. In Malawi this is certainly not the case! Washing machines are lacking, so laundry is done by hand. If you want to do this with hot water, you have to cook and for that you have to provide fuel. Much of the daily food is home-grown. This requires tilling the land, sowing, maintaining, watering and harvesting. Unfortunately, the harvest is often disappointing, resulting in direct hunger. How privileged we are in the Netherlands!
Yes, life in Malawi is tough! It is impressive to experience how warm the character of the people is. Malawi is known for it, but the cordiality is extremely high, despite all the circumstances. We can take an example from that.
The great impressions Malawi has left with me I have now, after years, been able to share with my family. Yes, the world is not the same everywhere and for everyone, but in all the different circumstances we can live together as human beings. So it is especially beautiful to be able to go to church together in this other country where everything is different. Then there is something that does bind together! Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Impressive!
The trip last summer brought us into contact with For a Change. We were able to visit Kwanjana and get a picture of the work. Impressive what has been built in 10 years! All efforts have been blessed! As board members, we now hope to be able to provide our support and contribution from the Netherlands. Hope has been given for 10 years, we continue with hope!
