Joy
26 August 2019
It is already some time ago that we visited the entire village, from door to door. The heavy rainfalls passed by and the sun was burning on our skin. Home after home, there was misery. Some people had to sleep under a tiny piece of plastic, together with the pigs. The need was enormous.
I remember visiting one of the families. They were eating pumpkin and corn. We were invited and received a piece of pumpkin. In the middle of the misery, those people did not forget to share, to share with someone who has more than enough. I will not forget this: to be able to share when you don't have anything yourself.
In the mean time, we were able to give emergency aid to the 250 affected families from Kwanjana. It was a wonderful and emotional moment. We are one step further already: 20 new houses are being build! The first two are ready and the keys were handed over to the families. There was so much joy! It is so good that we can share together and that we can bring joy to 20 families in Kwanjaja.
It is very special to see that the families live in a well-built house now. They are, spoken in an humanly way, protected against heavy rainfalls and violence of nature. They do not need to worry about their homes. A little piece of poverty is defeated. When the keys were handed over to the families, we shared the words of John 14. It is a blessing to have a good earthly home. But to have a home in heaven, is more important!
It gives so much joy when we share what we have. It gives so much joy to see the fruits of our work. It gives so much joy to see that those families now have a good and decent home to live in. But it will give so much more joy when we are sure to have a home in heaven. In heaven, no poverty, no need and no disasters are present anymore. There is ultimate joy!
