Drop of hope

December this year, we hope to celebrate our 10th anniversary. A very special moment for which we are very grateful. A lot has happened in the past 10 years. Year by year, we have worked hard on our slogan: defeating poverty step by step. Looking back, we see that, with God's help, we have been able to achieve a lot. Every day we get to beat poverty in the lives of 200 children and their families. Every day a glimmer of hope flickers in these families. Hope to get out of the cycle of poverty. Every day we also get to reach them with the hope found only in God's Word. And every day we get to sprinkle seeds in the hearts of these children. But after 10 years, our work in Kwanjana is not yet finished. Hopelessness has not yet been defeated. There are still many families prayerfully waiting for that same hope. It is our desire to be able to offer a hopeful existence to many more people in Kwanjana

Drop of hope

Water is one of the basic necessities of life. Water is indispensable. In other countries, it is quite normal to turn on the tap and see water coming out of it. Not so in Kwanjana. No one has a tap in their house. People often have to walk far to a water pump to find good drinking water. They carry this on their heads home.

At For a Change, we do have a few taps. But lately, the tap has been empty more and more often. This is because there are many more of us at the centre now that the new primary school has opened. We have 120 more children and five more teachers with their families. That's a lot of extra water. And we only have 1 water tank in Kwanjana. And so it is regularly empty. And yet water is so important. Because without water everything becomes difficult: cooking, washing dishes, washing hands, flushing the toilet. Without enough water, it is difficult to ensure good hygiene. And especially now that we also want to grow more crops at the centre and use irrigation to do so, more water is needed. That's why we want to work hard to get extra water at the centre. Do you also want to give a drop of hope?
