A mother is speaking
24 January 2019
Today, we get to know Elufe Kamoto, mother of Mervice, a girl that visits our nursery school. She is a single mom with 4 children. She has a little business: she sells tomatos. With the money she makes, she can buy food for her children. But she admits that is it not easy. There are days that she does not sell enough, making it impossible to give her children enough food. Food is her first priority, so although she knows education is important, she does not have much time to think about it. She was very happy to hear that her daughter was selected by the For a Change Foundation to go to the nursery school.
She told us about her experiences with the nursery school that her daughter visits. She sees changes in the behaviour of her daughter. She talks more. Every night before bedtime, she tells her mother what she has learned at school. And since she is going to school, she prays every evening before she goes to sleep. It makes her happy.
'Before Mervice went to school, she was my child, but I had no special expectations about her. But now, I have hope. Hope that she can be someone in the community, because I see how serious the Foundation is about education. My wish is that this project continues to grow, so more children in need can be helped. And the wish for my daughter is that she will be able to finish school, so she can choose any profession she wants. I pray for her, and I also pray that the project will succeed.'
Are you praying along?
