The collective effort
26 August 2021
I am back in Malawi together with my wife and two children Eloise and Jayden after 8 weeks in the Netherlands where we went for work and also on leave to visit relatives and friends. Especially when you know that there is a high possibility that we are not going to see some of our family and friends again.
Going back to Malawi always has mixed reactions, we are looking forward to being back to the work we love and at the same time, we are leaving people behind whom we love as well and of course it is easier to be in the Netherlands since more essential things are readily available compared to Malawi but the passion for the work here is more powerful.
I felt that this time was a blessed season, looking at the circumstances that came because of COVID-19, but doors were opened for us to do presentations on different platforms. We thank the Lord for the possibility and all the people who made it possible for us to do the presentations. And also for those who gave an arm to our organization.
It was good to take some time off from the field, this helps me to reflect on our work and think deeper on the work we are doing, and appreciate the work from the distance. This time around I was just amazed to see how people are putting their time and finances to help the organization. I flew back to Malawi in my mind and see how the Action Committee is committed to the work. These guys have an extraordinary passion for the work. And I checked with my fellow field workers and see how they are also working hard driving this big machine, it is amazing to see that things are moving forward. I returned to the Netherlands, this is where we have our financial backbone. As of now, we are helping 90 children who are all having a sponsor from the Netherlands. Sponsors can send money every month for the needy children in Malawi, this is a great commitment. Some are sponsoring when there is a project. And some sponsor for the upkeep of the field workers.
A friend of mine told me that, we can serve each other on the level that God has given us, it does not matter if you have less or more, there is always something that we can do to help each other. This is true when I see people who are helping the organization are from those who don’t have much money to those who have more money. Everyone is serving his part and that collaboration is making the organization move forward. On the same note, there is no ranking on who is the main sponsor or minor sponsor but everyone is helping according to the level God gave him or her.
Just to look back from where we are coming from and where we are now, the only thing we can do is to kneel and thank the Lord for the provision. Though I don’t know what the future holds but I hope to trust that God will take care of it whether being for the organization or personal needs. Thank you all for your support.
