Our new teacher

Hi everyone, my name is Rebecca Chimbalanga. I am a Malawian lady, aged 21, a holder of Malawi school certificate and certificate in early childhood development. I have just started working at For a Change Foundation in Kwanjana as a nursery teacher. Working with For a Change is very nice and interesting.

Giving thanks for our meals

In the Netherlands, we are used to give thanks for our meals by means of a common prayer. Translated in English, it states: ' 'Although many people are hungry, You gave us a bountiful meal'. In my childhood, I did not understand those words and I often said them without paying attention to what I said. But after I visited Malawi, those words too...

Happiness in Kwanjana!

Today was a very special day! There was a party in Kwanjana. Finally, after 5 long months, our children were back again! We missed them a lot. Their joyful voices, their happy faces, the nice stories they tell. Everything is different when the children are present. They are the sunshine of our Centre.

Missing school

The schools are already closed for half a year. There is no homeschooling, because this is difficult in Malawi, and especially in the villages, as most parents are not able to read and write. Distance education is also not possible, as almost nobody is having a phone with internet.

A light in turbulent times

Hope for Kwanjana

Kwanjana is a remote village which has been given hope. The impacts of the foundation are really helping the village. The activities happening around the village are bringing a better change to the people.

Making plans

I hoped to be in Malawi at the time I write this blog. But plans do not always work out the way you think. Sometimes, we make plans that lay far before us, and we still think that those plans work out just the way we want them to. But I learned during this time of corona, that nothing happens when the Lord is not willing.
